Lynch syndrome_what you need to know.pngIn collaboration with The Baked Bean Charity, we have created a new patient information leaflet to support people with learning disabilities to learn about Lynch syndrome and why testing for the condition matters. The leaflet contains information in easy read and can be useful if you want patient information about Lynch syndrome that is easier to understand.

Lynch syndrome is an inherited condition that increases the risk of developing certain cancers, often at a younger age. Early diagnosis and understanding are vital for patients and their families — but the information is often complex and not accessible to everyone.

By working with individuals who are supported by The Baked Bean Charity and live with a learning disability, we have been able to co-develop a leaflet which contains simple language and visuals that is clear and easy to understand.

Without accessible information, some patients can be left confused, anxious or excluded from important conversations about their health. This resource ensures that everyone has the opportunity to understand and take action on their potential inherited cancer risk.

How can clinical teams share the leaflet?

  • You can share this leaflet with patients who are recommended testing for Lynch syndrome. It can be sent electronically or printed out and given as a hard copy. Patients can share the leaflet with their relatives to help them understand their own potential risk and the need for genetic testing and screening. This allows family members to take proactive steps for cancer prevention and early detection.
  • Share the link to this page with your colleagues to help raise awareness of leaflet within your clinical teams.
