- Eve Byrne, Director of Advocacy at Macmillan Cancer Support, has written a comment in the Daily Express urging government to prioritise cancer care, highlighting long waits, cost of living and the delay to the 10 year plan being published. The Express have also included a case study of a lady with breast cancer who was taken off treatment for a month during the first Covid lockdown.
- A study has shown a diet of highly processed food can increase the risk of bowel cancer. The Times, Guardian, Telegraph, i, Daily Mail and Independent.
- A YouGov poll commissioned by Blood Cancer UK has found that more than half of adults can not name any symptoms of blood cancer and that 25% are unlikely to see a doctor if they had any of the red flag symptoms. The Times and i.
- In a Daily Telegraph comment piece by consultant surgeon, J Meirion Thomas, criticising GP practices he attributes poor GP services as part of the reason many cancers aren’t being caught early enough and that the UK is lagging behind comparable countries in survival rates.
